(February 16, 2023) Marysville Fire District welcomes new Fire Chief Ned Vander Pol. The district’s Board of Directors selected Vander Pol to lead the regional fire authority following a nationwide search. He was sworn in during the board’s February 15 meeting.

Vander Pol now brings 27 years of fire and emergency medical services experience to our community.

“I look forward to working with the professional members of the Marysville Fire District as we provide exceptional service to the residents and visitors in our community,” Vander Pol said.

Vander Pol first joined the fire service in 1995 as a volunteer firefighter in California. He then served two decades with the Vista Fire Department in San Diego County, working through the ranks before retiring as Vista’s Fire Chief in December 2022. He holds a master’s degree in public administration, completed the executive fire officer program at the National Fire Academy and is a credentialed Chief Officer from the Commission on Professional Credentialing of the Center for Public Safety Excellence.

Vander Pol is now committed to leading our community-focused public safety organization that includes five fire stations and a team of more than 140 firefighters and staff. The district serves more than 80,000 residents across a 56-square-mile area encompassing Marysville, Seven Lakes, Quil Ceda Village, a large portion of the Tulalip Indian Reservation and unincorporated Snohomish County. Vander Pol looks forward to being involved with the public to understand their safety needs while supporting the personnel providing the service.
